Handmade on the Tibetan Plateau
Dokarpo is a small social enterprise based in Martok, a remote nomadic area of the Tibetan plateau in the Golok prefecture.
Here, with the financial support and coordination of mYak, a hand-weaving workshop with traditional looms was created. The goal is to revive the ancient skills in the art of weaving, which are inexorably being lost.
Dokarpo products are born from a philosophy of sustainability, with a supply chain that takes place entirely within the village: from raising sheep of an ancient Tibetan breed, to selecting the wool, washing, spinning, dyeing, weaving, and packaging.
A Dokarpo product carries with it the symbolic value of a community determined to sustain itself while preserving an ancient and unique tradition
